President Trump ready to impose new sanctions on Russia after huge air attack on Ukraine | BBC News

US President Donald Trump has said he’s ready to impose new sanctions on Russia after the latest massive aerial attack on Ukraine, the largest since Moscow’s full-scale invasion three years ago.

Ukraine said its air defences were overwhelmed by more than 800 missiles and drones, with government buildings in the capital Kyiv being hit for the first time.

Ukraine’s President Zelensky called the attacks “ruthless”

The attacks come three weeks after President Trump met the Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska in the hope of reaching a peace agreeemnt.
